CNC MACHINIST
Reports to: Machining Manager
PRIMARY FUNCTION
To set up and operate Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC) machining centers to machine metallic and nonmetallic parts.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Seeking a highly motivated, skilled CNC machinist
- Vocational education and/or 5 - 10 years of experience in a job shop, non-production environment preferred
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Must be a self-starter, able to work with little to no supervision
- Writes simple CNC programs at the machine and can troubleshoot programs
- Performs in-process quality inspections and adjust the machine when needed
- Performs machine setups, as required
- Collaborates with engineers, lead toolmakers, programmers, and other team members to resolve machining challenges
- Mentors, coaches, trains less skilled team members
- Interprets blueprints with knowledge of dimensional tolerances and GD&T
- Performs basic machine maintenance
- Strong written and verbal skills a must
- General computer skills a plus
- Other duties may be assigned
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Machinists may be subject to the following:
- High noise levels from machinery
- Fumes, dust, vapors, mist
- Coolants, oils, cutting fluids, and other chemicals
