Opportunity
Ahaus is seeking a Toolmaker w/ CMM Experience. This person will analyze a variety of specifications, lay out metal stock, set up and operates machine tools, and fit and assemble parts to fabricate/repair cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges, or machinists’ hand tools, while applying knowledge of tool design, shop mathematics, metal properties, and layout/machining/assembly procedures.

Duties, Responsibilities & Information
- Studies specifications, e.g., blueprints, sketches or tool description and plans sequence of operations.
- When applicable, work with stakeholder(s) to rectify issues or concerns about any given detail, including but not limited to:
- Design errors
- Machining feasibility
- Tooling needs
- Machining errors
- Possible enhancements that could lead to more efficient completion of the detail
- Setup, program, and finish machine assigned Details complete to Engineering Detail Drawings
- The originating Toolmaker is responsible for general Inspection of their assigned Details to ensure adherence to print specifications using precision measuring tools
- Measures, makes and scribes metal stock to lay out work pieces for machining.
- Sets up and operates machine tools, e.g., lathe, milling machine, shaper and grinder, to machine parts to specifications.
- Fits and assembles parts into assemblies or mechanisms using hand tools.
- Verifies dimensions and alignment, using measuring instruments such as micrometers, height gauges, and gauge blocks.
- Examines standard tools and modifies tools as required.
- Develops specifications from general descriptions and draws/sketches tool to be fabricated.
- Communicates with co-workers and supervisors to receive instructions and coordinate activities.
- Inspects and measures parts to maintain statistical process control charts, as required.
- Works within Quality System parameters as required.

Training & Experience Required
- Math skills
- Ability to use precision measurement tools
- Reading and interpreting blueprints
- Machine tool operation
- CNC Programing
- Math skills, including knowledge of dimensional tolerances and GD&T
- Precision measurement instruments
- Reading and interpreting blueprints
- General Computer skills
- Verbal and written communication skills
- Vocational training, on the job training, and apprenticeships are all typical forms of formal training for a Toolmaker
- CMM experience
- Minimum 5 years CMM experience
- Minimum 1-year experience using 
PCDMIS software

Working Conditions
- May be subject to higher noise levels from operating machines; physical hazards from moving equipment & machine parts.
- Standard industrial and manufacturing working conditions
